Native Sun is a London based duo consisting of bilingual rapper Mohammed Yahya, an African born in Mozambique , South East Africa and singer-song writer Sarina Leah, an African born in London by way of the Caribbean. Native Sun fuses Hip Hop/African rhythms which result in awesome and inspiring music.
A key line in this song is Muhammad Yahya’s verse: “Sometimes we gotta struggle in order to learn the lessons.” This brings to mind the insight of Kwame Ture when he verbalized the dialectic that we learn the truth in our constant struggle against lies. Yahya furthers this dialectic with the line: “if you wanna build, then be ready to destroy..” This is one of our favorite tracks from Native Sun’s album Indigenous Soundwaves.
