The late Cheikh Anta Diop presents a blueprint for the creation of a unified Black African state. Diop explains why attempts at economic development and cooperation cannot succeed apart from the political unification of Black Africa and the African Diaspora. He shows how the colonially contrived national and tribal groupings share a common cultural heritage, how linguistic unification is possible, and how the preservation and development of Africa’s natural resources could transform the life of its people. For Diop, the ultimate aim of unity is the restoration of the historical consciousness of African people and the complete recovery of political sovereignty.
