Carter G. Woodson’s The Mis-Education of the Negro has to be the most quoted and misquoted, unread book by Africans from the United States. Really, how many of you have heard the quote about being trained to enter into a building from the back entrance, that if there was no back entrance the trained subject will create one. Well, we must admit we here at Conscientization 101 have never been in the habit of quoting books as if we have read them. With that being said, we truly advise those who partake in the quoting/misquoting of Dr. Woodson’s book, or those who have never heard of this masterpiece, to give this Pan-African work a conscientious read.
This book is required reading for African people worldwide because, as a people, we suffer from colonial deracination which has turned us into beings for others to exploit, while at the same time fostering a mentality that has us believe we are incapable of building anything valuable for ourselves. And how is all of this done? Through what Dr. Woodson calls mis-education. So, take the first step towards decolonization of the African mind, get, and READ this cardinal Pan-African book today.
Oh yeah, we highly recommend you get the African World Press (AWP) sixth print, published in 1993, because there are a lot of unauthorized prints of this perspicacious work in circulation, as well as some latter editions with new forwards by quisling knee-groes (that’s superfluous!).
